Bust the Cap

DDO[Dungeons & Dragons Online] D&D Online is open for the pre-order players, and it should be on the store shelves shortly. In honor of this fact, go find out what D&D player you are here. I’m a Chaotic Good Half-Elf Bard. Yeah, right.

In other news, people are already hitting the level cap (which is 10) before the game is officially available to the general public. Ouch.

Reached level 10!, (now what else is there to do???)

UPDATE: More level 10’s showing up, some with screenshots to prove it.

I own this little MMO gaming blog but I hardly ever write on it any more. I'm more of a bloglord or something. Thankfully I have several minions to keep things rolling along.

  1. I considered it, but the beta test soured me something fierce. Maybe I’ll reconsider after some time goes by.

  2. I have no comments on the game. I did some in-character fiction for IGN’s D&D Vault (“Through Warforged Eyes”), but I do not know how well that will mesh with the warforged-as-implemented.

  3. I don’t have the game, so I can’t say much about that part of this discussion. I can say that the person who got level 10 before the game was released is an idiot turd-eatting dry-ice humping pud. I know a guy that talks, acts, and plays just like him. Personally, I can’t stand him. He always does whatever you are doing “better, faster, etc.”

What an idiot… oh wait, that’s the casual-carebear gamer in me. If I was a raider, I’d understand him and we’d be best friends.

  4. This kind of guy is what ruins games for the casual MMORPG’er…

Anyway – that’s not what I wanted to post about.

On about page 7 of that thread there’s a guy in there totally destroys the guys statement, seemingly casting doubt on the guys equipment, enhancement and feat progression – thus implying that the OP in the thread was talking out of his ass….

i.e. – from the msg: 6. You use flaming arrows in an xbow. Nice hacks, or maybe your just a fool. Flaming bolts are not possible to create.

From all the garbage spewed from this guy, I doubt he is level10. Maybe he is, but no way in hell he has even near what he said in equipment.

  5. It appears there are several level 8+ characters as well. Regardless, some people rush to the end and some people enjoy the ride. I’m an enjoy the ride person and everyone else I game with is a rush to the end person. Sucks that way.

  6. I was semi interested in this game when a DD game was announced…but then I found out it wasn’t going to be set in either of the popular settings (WTB Forgotten Realms pls) and my interest flagged. Now reading all that just makes me go “glad i din’t buy it”. Level cap just seems low atm, and the fact that there is no end game content is just absurd and leads me to believe the game was pushed out early.

Regardless if that guy actually reached level 10 people in that thread raised valid points about the lack of content at the end of the game. Rerolling may be fun at first..but when you are doing the same quests you did the first time through over and over again it is NOT fun.

i loved the one guy who said that “Here’s a good example, if any of you ever played the PnP game and you had a DM who made you reroll at the end of ever session and lead you through the exact same content again you’d start looking for a new DM right quick”.
