Lost In Space

EVE[EVE Online] I’ve been playing EVE Online now since May 2005. In the last month, I think I might have left the station once. Ever since I purchased my second account during the special promotion CCP ran, all I have been doing is logging in to train.

The end result of this is I’m starting to forget how to actually play this game. I’m feeling like a noob again. Only this time since I’m not a noob I feel too stupid to ask questions because I should already know this stuff. Really, I just need to get back out and blow something up.

EVE[EVE Online] In a stunning move, CCP has added a wonderful new piece of technology to their forums. Utilizing some sort of thingamajig called “google”, they have given us all the ability to do something we have long thought impossible.

We can now search the forums! Cheers to CCP for this brilliant (and dare I say bold) move to keep all the other MMO companies on their toes trying to catch up.

Stupid Computers

I thought I had finally fixed my video corruption/crash problem with a new power supply, but my video went out again tonight. I am so sick of this. Can’t play anything for more than 30 minutes. I really don’t want to spend any more money, but this is getting old. Stupid computers.

Right now I just want to quit gaming forever. Bah…

No Longer Blue

EVE[EVE Online] While I have been suffering through computer downtime, some suprisingly big news has recently bubbled up via the various EVE channels. SirMolle of the Band of Brothers Alliance made this announcement recently:

Today BOB revokes all standings with all other corporations or alliances. Things have settled into a state of stagnation. These systems so far from the core should not be so peaceful. It is an aberration, an imbalance, something that has to change. We remember old acquaintances, the good and the bad. However, just as true warriors will joyfully spill each others’ blood, we will not hesitate to fight old friends. This is a good change.

To the world of EVE we give the gift of conflict. Let our eyes light up to welcome it.

The regions of Fountain, Delve, Period Basis, will no longer allow travel through or visits. Active as of friday downtime, you are set back to 0.0. This will not change anytime soon.

Rejoice.

Slow News week

Hmm, we seem to be quiet here. We are still awaiting Issue 7 over at City of Heroes, and I have not been playing much this week. I did read something interesting, though, so I’ll toss you a link. Will Wright is guest-editing Wired for April, and this is something he wrote for it, entitled “Dream Machines.”

Two preview bits:

Face of Mankind

[Face of Mankind] In 2001 Duplex Systems was founded to pursue and develop products in the MMO space. The Berlin based studio is focused on intelligent and unique game play styles where the player ‘lives the story’. Last month they launched their first title; Face of Mankind. So the question holds; does it stand up to the PR or is it just another bag of sullen dreams?

Here Come the Ponies

[My Little Pony RPG] Sadly, it will not be an MMO, but my wife is really looking forward to the My Little Pony RPG. With any luck, it will do well enough PnP to be licensed as a virtual world. Could this be the game to dethrone Virtual Horse Ranch?

Gamers are Faithful

We have a Hamidon raid scheduled for 11pm tonight. About 100 people plan to spend Saturday night pretending to beat up a jello monster, in the hopes of marginal improvement to a character who probably spends most of its online life at or waiting for a Hamidon raid.

A gamer’s spouse must put up with many things, but doubts about fidelity are not amongst them. Unless she, too, is a gamer and thinks he is spending a bit too much time with that other guild…
