Isn't it frustrating? And then they've got all sorts of AI bugs and pathing problems. I had this fire/thermal corruptor once who I kept having to summon, because it had no vertical movement capability, and my brutes keep straight into groups on the other side of the room, mid-combat, and getting themselves killed because they don't realise we have our hands full already. I've been waiting for NC to fix that for a while now.
