Just a FYI.... you can have up to 6 legendary items socketed. Even if you have 2 of them equipped (Weapon & class item), you can slot 4 more, and they will gain XP like the equipped ones. a nice trick is to level the 4 items you don't care about to 10, get them reforged, then when they hit 11, deconstruct them at that point. You get a TON more things, AND you get the faded runes of knowledge (they come in 1000, 2k, 5k, 7.5k, 10k, and up) which you can apply to your main weapon to level it faster. Levelling a weapon to level 11 gives you at the minimum a 5k rune, 10k if it's a crit. And keep an eye on the AH, can find some Second Age (legendary) weapons for not too bad money, and they have better stats most of the time than the 3'rd age items.

There are a few reasons to explore Eregion before heasding into the mines Zubon. In the first place the mobs inside Moria are noticeably tougher than those outside so if you are still in the very low 50's you may struggle. Perhaps a better reason though is that there is fun stuff to do. The library and school three man instances are very enjoyable and give good loot if you do them at the right level.

@Yeebo I saw a detailed blog post on the US forums which analysed it and found that level 2 gives more relics per unit of experience than level 11. Of course you would need a large supply of legendaries if you are going to de construct them all at level 2.

Glad you were finally able to get going on the new areas :-)

Eventually you will have two legendaries you like, and a bunch more slotted just to level and deconstruct. Common wisdom is that level 11 is the sweet spot for deconstructing, it yields the most relics for the time you put in.

I really like the legendary weapon system. It gives the whole affair Diablo vibe that bumps the addictiveness up a notch as far as I'm concerned.

What Andrew says is true, at some point you want a ton of legendaries just to level up a bit and then deconstruct so you can get better relics. It really is a whole mini-game.

I don't think anyone didn't enjoy helping Bill the Pony, though it's fair to say all the female players I know actually squealed a little at the idea.

"I am led to believe that I will find more of these things than I will ever need."

That is true, though only a small selection of those will actually be of any value because of the random selection of Legacies. On the upside, you can always Deconstruct them for Relics to help boost your useful items.

Considering how Moria has taken LotRO to a new level, it will be interesting to see how they raise the bar with subsequent expansions. (I'm guessing mounted combat for Rohan.)
