Several reasons I quit melee:

1. Shooting from horseback
2. Sound is awesome
3. Ranged attack
4. My character loves guns

No one worships you, NPCs generally treat you as an inferior (if not downright hostile), little to nothing is handed to you and gear typically (in my experience) is something of an afterthought in PvP. I love it.

I had a hard time making the transition from my dual lawn-mower blades up to light pistols but once I learned the efficient ammunition recipe all was well. Now I'm struggling with making the leap from medium pistols to heavy, those missed shots hurt just a little more! (dual semi auto .45's though...yum).

I have complained about other games' not letting you be the star in your own story. Some games, as here, do it well: you are the star in a very personal story, rather than a rat-slayer amidst an epic tale.

Performance increased for me as well. My big PC ran it fine, but now the older machine (dual core, 9800, 2 gigs ram) runs it just peachy.

And I love the thoughts on being a "survivor" which is exactly how I put it to the wifey on the show. Great game!

They have been constantly making improvements. I have a dual core cpu with an 8800 GTS gfx card and 4GB RAM. Not high end so much any more. I have no issues at all.

I don't really care what the post is about but I will agree with mostly anything that starts with a Firefly quote.

Anyway, have they optimize the graphic engine? Even a friend who has a high-end machine (and "high-end" here is a understatement) says he has some issues with the performance...

P.S. I carry the sword because it looks cool. I want to find another one so I can have 2 strapped to my back.

I've finally converted over to using my pistols full time. I've been using melee a lot up until recently because of the fact they don't use up my precious ammo. Been using dual box cutters, you can sort of see one in the pic above.

I have been able to make enough bullets that I feel comfortable using pistols now. Used up a lot of AP to get my pistol skill up too.

I agree Ethic and Scopique. I like the 'just getting by.'

FE allows me to live in the moment. I don't feel hurried even though there is so much to do. And every time I log in I discover something new...and I've barely left my first starting town of South Burb(!).

I like to pretend I am playing in the Firefly-verse too. : )

That's what I love about FE: everyone is just trying to get by, even the NPCs. Some are trying to get their humanity back (Franklin's Riders, for example) while others have just given up and are waiting for their life to end.

For me, FE does a good job of making me not care about reaching a 'level cap' or and 'end game' because the day-to-day things are so much more meaningful (the 'CHUNK' sound when your crafting session is done is like a choir of angels :D), and finding the right resources at the right time makes even the shrotest amount of playtime meaningful.
