[WoW] Read the Patch Notes

The World of Warcraft April Fool’s patch notes really are that good. Seriously, go read them. You may not catch all the references, but I think I just learned a lot about WoW culture from the mockery of it. Still, my favorite?

The Love is in the Air quest “Crushing the Crown” has been renamed “Crushing the Candy”. Bring it.

  1. “New paid service: Character Bust. Pay to de-level any character back to 1, removing all items, mounts, and gold, so you can relive the good ol’ days.”

Pretty sure they could sell quite a few of those. I’d buy one if the price was right (in other games, obviously. It’s not like I play WoW)

“Upon beating World of Warcraft, a New Game+ option will appear on the main menu, which allows players to replay the game at a more challenging difficulty level.”

Another option that would be very popular if it could be arranged.

Actually, I’d guess 20-25% of the items in those notes would be well-received by a non-trivial number of players if they were ever to happen. The Pet Pet Garrison and the Calvin and Hobbes ones for sure.

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I’d like to play an MMO made by the guys who wrote those patch notes rather than play WoW…oh, wait a minute…

    1. As a player, Character Bust is almost always an option known as “delete” or “buy a new character slot.” And you can always increase your difficulty by playing sub-optimally, which many people do (intentionally or otherwise).
