Game of Thrones

HBO is going to have one more sub soon thanks to this news:

Winter is, indeed, coming.

HBO has greenlighted highly anticipated fantasy series “Game of Thrones.”

The premium network has picked up the project for a first season debut next spring (below is the first released photo from the series). Nine episodes plus the pilot have been ordered. Production will begin in Belfast this June.

I own this little MMO gaming blog but I hardly ever write on it any more. I'm more of a bloglord or something. Thankfully I have several minions to keep things rolling along.

  1. Wow.

I reckon Ice and Fire will make great television if they do it right. Nobody does intrigue quite like GRRM.

  2. Huh, I thought production started late last year. I could have sworn I read on GRRM’s blog that he was over in Ireland for it. Maybe it was scouting and scoping and stuff, not an actual start to production.

But no question about it, this is awesome, best fantasy series of the last fifty years without a doubt, if they nail the TV adaptation it will be glorious.

    1. They filmed the pilot already, that is probably what you have been hearing about. They needed to get the green light from HBO before they could continue spending money.

  3. I was thrilled to hear about this yesterday – It’s too bad that it will only start coming out in Spring 2011. :
