The Illusion of Scarcity

An online distribution network recently announced that release of a new game was only days away, so this was my last chance to pre-order. They were not offering a pre-order discount. It was just my last chance to pay for the game before it came out.

  1. But if you pass this up, how will you prove your impulsiveness and poor decision-making?

  2. I could understand this if it were a game that may sell out in stores and pre-ordering ensured that you got it as soon as it came out.

  3. You only get street cred for this if you were trying to buy the Fool’s… I mean, the Collector’s Edition.

  4. Just got my Collector’s editio, and dug all through it. Didn’t find a single #*&##$ “street cred” in the whole thing! WTF!? Well, at least there are more online, so I can go buy another. Just worried that the preorder status won’t transfer to the new one.

  5. Oh, I got a bunch of street creds here. Send me an e-mail and I’ll send you one. They’re only $4.99 each.

I’m also running a limited time special where if you buy one you get a second one free at only $9.99.

It’s always better if you stock up your street creds early, so it’s a good opportunity.
