Nope

After writing that, I then immediately went on to a four five-game winning streak in Slay the Spire, an we’ll see how far this goes. So nope, the plan works, just needed to get better at execution and selecting a path.

  1. I’m trying to get a feel for this game vs Hearthstone as far as rng vs strategy goes and how each affects gameplay. Is there another factor that i am not considering that is taken into account in Slay the Spire?

    1. I’d point to this post as some explanation. You have much finer grained control over your deck, you have some control over the sort of opponents you face, and the stack of the deck is less of an issue in a game where you repeatedly go through your deck, versus cards you may never seen in Hearthstone. Drawing five (or more) cards per round nullifies a lot of randomness that you normally get from 1 card per round. Also, there is less of a massive difference per card.

In Hearthstone’s dungeon run, you can pull an artifact and maybe beat an end boss on round four, or lose when your good cards never come up. In Slay the Spire, you will see all your cards in every fight, usually multiple times, and the difference between your best and worst cards is not so huge that every draw is a slot machine pull.
