I’ve been pretty busy lately, but found myself with a little time to kill tonight. Tried logging into World of Warcraft and saw my old arch-enemy again: Authenticating.
Time for me to measure the cost:fun:frustration ratios again.
I’m going to take a shower and watch a movie.
This may sound extremely silly, but I’ve had great success with it.
A poster on the official forums claimed that if you find yourself stalling for eternity at ‘Authenticating’ let it time out and then input an incorrect password and try again. If all goes well, you’ll get a pop up saying that your information is incorrect (if it just times out then you aren’t going to get it anytime soon). After this occurs, you should be able to input your proper password and get through the hang up without incident. I don’t know how or why this seems to work, but I’ve tested it on multiple accounts and locations with consistent results.
That’s just crazy enough to work! I’ll give it a shot next time I care enough to double-click the WoW icon. Thanks for the tip.
