[World of Warcraft] My wife told me a few weeks ago, “I’d like to try that game of yours.” To which I had to ask “What game?” Turns out it was World of Warcraft. Ugh. I really didn’t want to give them any more money, but the chance to introduce my wife to an MMORPG was just too great to pass up.
I intended on just letting her play without my interference. I tried, but it was pretty hard to stay out of it. She ended up creating a Human Warlock female. She wanted Horde, but I talked her out of it, if only because I have been playing Horde characters forever.

Work sent me out of town for the past week. The hotel lobby reminded me of a City of Heroes office map, where the upper floors have a landing that looks down on the lobby. Having run that map hundreds of times, I needed to remind myself that if I hopped over the railing, I would not land safely except for a little red “-2” over my head.
The stairs were further from temptation than the elevator.

[EVE Online] Finally got back out and shot down some rats. Damn that feels good. It’s like I haven’t played EVE for the last month, which is probably pretty accurate. Nothing gets the blood flowing like a good old fashioned explosion.
Anyway, I started playing around with Flickr some to hold some of my screenshots, we’ll see how it goes.

Ok, I just got back from two weeks in LA, and I am headed out to Atlanta in a couple of weeks immediately followed by another LA trip. Whee. E3 here I come. Anyway, while I was hanging out in Hollywood with some friends, we started chatting about my “Designing the perfect MMO” commentary and the conversation sort of took off on a tangent and then went on a long vacation as we discussed death in MMORPGs….

[Kingdom of Loathing] The Kingdom of Loathing has its own holidays, mirroring normal American holidays. These are set by the KoL calendar, but they also appear on the real-world calendar days. The Feast of Boris, for example, appears on Thanksgiving as well as Boozember 7.
Today is the first time a KoL holiday falls on a real world holiday that has a KoL equivalent. Therefore, it is a combination of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. Drunkenness and oyster eggs abound. Can you find the secret special baskets?

[City of Heroes] City of Heroes has an Issue every three months or so. These are the big content updates, introducing new zones, powers, etc. Issue 6 coincided with the release of City of Villains at Halloween.
It has been a while since then. Cryptic puts out “feature updates” to maintain interest from week to week. Is it a bad sign when the update is literally “Hey, check out these walls!“?

[EVE Online] I’ve been playing EVE Online now since May 2005. In the last month, I think I might have left the station once. Ever since I purchased my second account during the special promotion CCP ran, all I have been doing is logging in to train.
The end result of this is I’m starting to forget how to actually play this game. I’m feeling like a noob again. Only this time since I’m not a noob I feel too stupid to ask questions because I should already know this stuff. Really, I just need to get back out and blow something up.

[EVE Online] In a stunning move, CCP has added a wonderful new piece of technology to their forums. Utilizing some sort of thingamajig called “google”, they have given us all the ability to do something we have long thought impossible.
We can now search the forums! Cheers to CCP for this brilliant (and dare I say bold) move to keep all the other MMO companies on their toes trying to catch up.
