[World of Warcraft] Keeping with my recently established theme, here’s a list of 5 things that your average casual player in BC is probably not all that fond of. Agree, disagree, fire your gun in the air, it’s all a matter of opinion, right? Tomorrow: part 3 – 5 things I hope to see soon in the expansion.

.Casual BC @ 60+: 5 good things
[World of Warcraft] Overall, after managing to install the game, I’ve had a fairly good time in The Burning Crusade. Seasoned gaming vet that I am, there’s stuff I feel they fell down on, but overall I’m happy. Today, the top 5 good things I’ve found, in no intelligible order.
…and your little rider too
Vrazuden the Herald is a wimp, but his pet dragon Nazan kicked my tattoed blue hiney all over the place. There’s a reason you want his head and not Vrazuden’s.
Vraz & Naz 9 : Oz 0
Maybe he’s not intended to be smushed by level 60’s in a smattering of tier 1. Soon he will die though. Oh yes.
Sharding Ur Purplz
[World of Warcraft] After a fun (not) day at work, I came home to find my house fairly calm, and decided before something went crazy, I’d attempt to get into WoW. Rule #4 in the husband handbook: Play now, for soon you shall have honey-do’s up the ying-yang. I’m paraphrasing, of course.
After getting onto WoW, without a queue I might add, I was presented with a bevy of links from guildmates showing off their new trinkets. These BC quest givers could probably solo Naxx with the armories they are dipping into.
BC Launch: Smooth as a troll’s bottom
Since this is their first expansion, you have to give Blizzard some slack. After all, unlike the famous Kunark incident, they actually had product for sale. (Ask your long time EQ playing friends about how Sony forgot to make enough product to fulfill their preorders, much less people wandering in off the street. What a kneeslapper)
However, just because you have product out there, and paid your $39.99 (or $69.99 if you want a little dragon pet), that does not mean you get entrance to said product. See, we’re having some slight techincal issues…
Elves in Space
Here we are on the morning of BC release. To the best of my knowledge, thus far at least, there were no pocket-protector related injuries at any of the GameStops who opened last night at midnight to sell Burning Crusade to people who simply couldn’t wait to roll their elf or lizard draenai. I found it amusing that many, including my local one, promoted this opening with “character dress contests and pie”.
Ah pie.
My server’s first Blood Elf (a mage, of course), was summoned to Orgimarrrrrrrrrr about 11:30pm CST, and then proceeded to duel everyone, while shouting “I’m an elf!”. More BC news as it becomes available, or as the servers melt down.
Last kid on the playground
So since the boss here has tagged all of us collectively, plus a few other sites have tagged us, I think I’m officially out of people to tag, assuming I use people I actually know…
That said, I can at least participate in the spirit of the thing, right?
PvP Bait n Switch
I guess you could say it was a balance issue, but it depends on your viewpoint. To me, it was basic math gone wrong.
As announced on the WoW forums here, players are getting their honor downgraded by 30%. Apparently the massive surge of people with HWL/GM PvP gear got a bit of attention. I know there’s a good amount players in my guild with 4 or so pieces already, and one completely done, I believe.
I may be jaded, but I can’t help but think of the many times this has happened with insert_random_mmorpg_here. A bit more testing, or a bit quicker action would have prevented the fun the forums will have with this.
On the good side, maybe this means the queue to get in will be reduced? Muhahaha.
Ouroboros, WoW style
Way back when I was but a lad, there was this movie with fairly tacky special effects (for the time even) but a decent story called The Neverending Story. I reallywasn’t a fan of the movie, but what I remember most about the movie was the amulet the main character had, an ouroboros. For those not up on ancient greek, it’s a snake eating it’s own tail. I always thought it was a cool image. It’s also a fairly popular image/metaphor in your average ancient fable. Not sure why…perhaps the local Fable Outlet didn’t stock many plot elements.
Where was I? Oh ya, WoW eating it’s own tail… Full circle. Good grief have you tried to log on recently?
Definition of “Too Much Spare Time”
I’ve been putting in 60+ hour weeks lately, so playing and/or posting has been on an as-needed basis, but apparently I’m completely missed the boat on this PS3 thing. I say this since I swung by the local Wal-Mart on the way home for some supplies to find people on their beds on the sidewalk. Yes, on their beds. I didn’t get any pictures, but I’m considering swinging by before work tomorrow. I had to ask someone inside what the fuss was (I thought they were panhandlers). Funny thing is there was a good 40+ people outside, and the place expects to get 10, at most, with 0 a more likely quantity.
Even when I was single, sleeping outside of a store for days waiting for a gaming system never made my list of stuff to do. Going to assume that’s a good thing. Looking for your PS3 camping/camper stories!
