[World of Warcraft] I figured I’d pop in to WoW for a little chat with my buddies tonight. 700 person queue, FU Blizzard.
So I figured I’d just pop into one of the other servers I have alts on and just do a little adventuring. 566 queue, 742 queue, 581 queue, on and on and on. Not a single server I can get on. FU Blizzard.
I sort the servers by population. All full except for about 20 PvP worlds that say medium. Nice planning, FU Blizzard.
What kind of a bullcrap operation they running over there? FU Blizzard.

[City of Villains] Every game has the mission of “go click on x.” City of Heroes/Villains does that quite a bit, usually combined with “and beat up some stuff.” Actually, that summarizes the gameplay of almost every MMO: run, click, kill. I have a discussion of that I occasionally toy with. Anyway…
The latest patch keeps you from clicking glowies while stealthed or phased. That is, you cannot steal things while hiding. You must stop hiding, defeat anyone who can see you, then go back to sneaking around. This is one of those interesting decisions that makes sense in some cases: how do you pick something up while intangible? Actually, heroes partially unphase all the time. Can you just pick something up and hide it under your invisible shirt? I recall Harry Potter doing that several times. Wouldn’t someone notice your opening the chest and taking things out? Okay, you have a point there.
[EVE Online] According to the latest news out of CCP, there has been some sort of hacking incident and 57 accounts have been tampered with. They are encouraging everyone to change their passwords and several accounts have had the passwords reset automatically.
[City of Villains] Easily the best part of returning to City of Heroes/Villains has been our supergroup’s Tuesday night strike force. This has become a regular event for the past couple of months, and I have seen almost all of the City of Villains strike forces. We will probably pick up the strays in the coming weeks, and maybe we will hit some City of Heroes task forces.
Welcome to the Carnival of Gamers X – Winter Carnival! This year we have lots of activites to take our minds off the brutally cold weather. Luckily the lakes froze over early so we could get a good start on building the Ice Palace.

Curling Exhibition
Over at the Fairground Ice Rink, we have a Curling Exhibition by Russ Mitchell from “Boxing Alcibiades”. He is famous for a special move he calls “Rome: Total War – Barbarian Invasion is a great game”. It’s a long name, which is possibly why most other players just call it RoToWar BarInIaGaGa.
[World of Warcraft] Again, Blizzard never ceases to amaze me how well they can completely screw over hundreds of thousands of paying customers.
Same routine as before. I was instructed to reinstall the game. I attempted that, now I’m stuck with an even more infuriating problem. The game will not install, I’ve tried everything blizzard suggests to do in the case of a CRC error, which is listed in the link below.
Hell I’ve even tried the rest of the crap they mention on that page, and it still comes to that same error on the last stretch of the last install CD. I’m pissed, I’m done, and if I can’t get this resolved in a few days, I’m canceling my account, I’ve had it up to the high end with Blizzards Fisher Price Patch network, not to mention the non existant CS team.

[UltraCorps] For those interested in browser-based games, Steve Jackson Games just announced that UltraCorps will be having its first multi-player open alpha test. There will be slots for 393 players for a 20-day game. You can follow any of those links to get a bit more information.
This offer expires at 10:00pm, January 2, or when all 393 slots are full. If you are interested and miss this test run, more tests are likely to ensue before UltraCorps goes live.

[World of Warcraft] Happy New Year everybody! Surprisingly, World of Warcraft will feature a special New Year’s Eve event (actually I think they had one last year, but much smaller in scope). That brings up the obvious question of who is going to spend New Year’s Eve in front of the computer…
Anyways, this is gonna be Blizzard’s last special event of the year. They had some minor ones like Easter Egg hunts and Fourth of July fireworks this year. Hallow’s End made its first appearance and was fairly fun, especially the trick or treating at inns. They brought back Winter Veil better than before. The only minor disappointment was the 1 year anniversary of WoW. EQ2 players got special titles and in game items while WoW players got nothing. Well, not exactely nothing. They had special drawings for graphics cards, but there were 30 winners out of their 5 million player base so… I didn’t win.

[Asheron’s Call 2] Today is the last day for Asheron’s Call 2 and I have the day off from work. Therefore, I will try to play as much as I can today to see how they say goodbye. There has not really been a lot of news out of Turbine regarding any plans they may have, so to be honest my expectations are low.
